I. Main Technical Features
This asphalt mixture rotary compactor is designed to compact hot-mix asphalt (HMA) specimens under conditions where the compaction pressure and rotation angle remain constant. The instrument is computer-controlled, featuring an LCD display, a printer output port, and an RS232 computer interface.
The fully enclosed compaction chamber is equipped with a high-precision angle measurement system and an integrated demolding system. The compacted HMA specimens are directly ejected from the mold within the instrument, eliminating the need for manual removal and subsequent re-demolding.
The instrument is controlled by a highly integrated industrial computer. To operate all its functions, the user simply needs to enter the appropriate compaction parameters, place the prepared mold into the compaction chamber, and then press the “START” button to initiate the compaction test. Once the “START” button is pressed, the computer system automatically executes the program, applying the required rotation angle and pressure. When the compacted specimen reaches the specified number of cycles or the designated height, the test will automatically terminate. After the specimen is leveled, once the pressure is released, the operator removes the mold’s top cover and then presses the “RAM UP” button to eject the specimen from the mold. This integrated demolding feature makes both the testing process and specimen removal remarkably easy.
The instrument operates on a 220V/50Hz power supply and features a hand-push rotary compactor that requires no fixed installation and is easy to move. It provides real-time display of pressure, height, number of cycles, and rotation angle.
The instrument passed the evaluation and verification in 2009.
This asphalt mixture rotary compactor is the preferred equipment for asphalt production companies, highway and bridge construction units, as well as various relevant colleges and research institutions.
II. Main Technical Parameters and Specifications
1. Power supply voltage: AC 220V (allowable error: -5% to +10%), 50Hz.
2. Pressure range: 0.000–18.000 kN
Resolution: 0.001 kN;
3. Fixed pressure: 600 kPa;
4. Compaction cycles: 0–5 times: < ±60 kPa
Number of compaction passes greater than 5: < ±18 kPa
5. Compaction angle: 1.20–1.30 degrees
6. Compaction speed: 30 ±1/2 rpm
7. Compaction cycles: 0–600
8. Data acquisition records the specimen height (mm) once per revolution.
9. Operating environment: 15℃–35℃ with relatively stable conditions and no air convection.
10. Relative humidity: ≤85%.
11. Overall power consumption: Not greater than 1500W.
12. External dimensions: 400mm × 300mm × 490mm (length × width × height).

The rotary compactor is equipped with a demolding device. After the compaction test is completed, you can remove the specimen by taking off the top cover of the mold. To do so, turn counterclockwise the three clamp handles that secure the top mold cover, thereby releasing it. Then, lift off the top cover from the upper part of the compactor. Next, press the RAM UP button, and the specimen will automatically be ejected from the mold. For certain asphalt mixtures, it may be necessary to wait until the specimen has cooled slightly before fully pressing the RAM UP button to release the specimen. In such cases, you can remove the mold from the compactor, allow the specimen to cool inside the mold, and simultaneously prepare additional specimens for compaction. Once the specimens have cooled sufficiently, reinsert the mold back into the compactor and press the RAM UP button again to eject the specimens.
Press the RAM DOWN button to automatically retract the die.
1. Load the asphalt mixture into the mold bucket.
2. Push the mold bucket containing the asphalt mixture into the compaction chamber.3 Then firmly tighten the fixing handle.
4. Put on the top cover.
5. Turn the top cover clockwise.
6. Tighten the three top covers clockwise to secure the handles.
7. Remove the mold top cover.
8 Press the “UP” button to release the mold.
After the 9th test is completed, remove the specimen.
After the 10 samples have been molded, loosen the three top-cover clamping handles one by one in a counterclockwise direction.
11. Press the “Start” button to begin the test.
12. Turn the top cover counterclockwise.

Operating Procedures for the DF-10 Type Hand-Pushed Rotary Compactor for Asphalt Mixtures
1. Place the instrument on a flat, stable surface and adjust the leveling feet underneath the device to ensure it is perfectly level. The leveling feet must not be left unsupported, and they should be securely locked in place.
2. Plug the device’s power cord into a 220V power outlet.
3. Turn on the machine and let it preheat 30 minutes in advance.
4. Press the Enter key to enter the “Function Selection” menu, select “Test Mode,” and then press the Enter key again.
5. On the instrument, apply petroleum jelly to all areas that can be touched by the mold and to both the inside and outside of the mold. Select the appropriate mold diameter and set the “number of rotations” or “compaction height.”
6. Place the mold fitted with the specimen into the compaction frame and firmly tighten the handle.
7. Close the safety door, press the “START” button, and the instrument will begin automatically rotating and compacting the sample. The instrument displays in real time the sample’s compaction pressure, rotation angle, sample height, number of compaction cycles, and other relevant parameters. When compaction is complete, the instrument will prompt the operator to remove the top cover. Then, press the “UP” button, and the instrument will automatically eject and remove the sample.
8. Press the “DOWN” key, and the die head will automatically reset.
9. After the test is completed, wipe dry the instrument and the test mold bucket.
