Operating and Usage Precautions for the Asphalt Mixture Compaction Tester

The asphalt mixture compaction apparatus is suitable for preparing asphalt mixture specimens using the standard compaction method, enabling laboratory testing of the physical and mechanical properties of asphalt mixtures. This apparatus is also applicable to the molding of cylindrical specimens with dimensions Φ152mm ± 0.2mm × 115mm or Φ101.6mm ± 0.2mm × 63.5mm, which are commonly used in Marshall tests and indirect tensile tests.
Features of the Asphalt Mixture Compaction Tester:
It features automatic counting, automatic compaction, and automatic shutdown. It also comes with a hammer-hanging bracket and a manual handle for easy lifting of the hammer. The semi-automatic molding device makes it even more convenient to insert and remove molds.
Operation Method for Asphalt Mixture Compaction Tester:
a. Before each compaction, the compaction punch, the inner walls of the mold, and the base of the mold should be coated with machine oil.
b. Open the safety door, lift the guide rail slider and the weight hammer, and use the safety lever to lock the compaction punch.
c. According to the specification requirements, place the well-mixed asphalt mixture into the test mold using the asphalt mixture compaction apparatus. Then, push the test mold onto the positioning pins on the steel plate platform and securely lock the mold.
d. Lift the guide rod and the weight hammer, open the safety lever, lower the compaction head, close the safety door, and press the start button to begin the compaction process. The machine will automatically shut down once the preset number of cycles is reached.
Precautions for Using the Asphalt Mixture Compactor:
1. The counter counts in a forward-counting manner.
2. The next time you strike, first press the reset button and then the start button.
3. When compaction is in progress and the machine needs to be stopped or malfunctions, press the stop button to halt the compactor’s operation.
4. The chain tension should be checked regularly, and adjusted if its sag exceeds 10 mm.
5. Do not start the compaction machine when no mixture is loaded. When not in use, place cotton yarn or shredded paper inside the mold.
6. Lubricate the chain and the sliding parts of the weight regularly.
7. After each compaction is completed, the test mold, compaction punch, and steel plate platform should be cleaned immediately.
8. The tension between the steel plate platform and the concrete base should be checked regularly.
