How should the asphalt ductility tester be operated correctly?
2020-04-28
The asphalt ductility tester is suitable for measuring the ductility of asphalt materials of various specifications and models, as well as the residual materials left after distilling liquid asphalt and the evaporative residues from asphalt emulsions. It can automatically calculate and display the average ductility value of three specimens, with digital temperature display. The LCD screen of the asphalt ductility tester displays the current operating status and features time display, adjustable speed display, and specimen elongation value display. It can store up to 20 sets of test data and can be connected to a printer for data printing. After expansion, it can also be linked to a computer management system. Compliant with the Ministry of Transport standard JTJ052-2000, this instrument is widely used in manufacturing, road construction, and research institutions, and is particularly well-suited for testing modified asphalt.
Asphalt Extensibility Tester Operating Procedure:
1. This instrument should be placed horizontally indoors on a surface that is free from vibrations and corrosive gases, with a temperature ranging from 0℃ to 40℃ and a relative humidity not exceeding 80%. It must also have proper grounding protection.
2. Before use, check that the water level in the sink meets the requirements specified in the test operating procedures. With all function switches turned off, connect the power supply and verify that the stirring motor and the extension power motor are functioning properly.
3. Set the temperature controller to the desired temperature. Depending on the experimental requirements and ambient temperature, activate the switch for either the cooling or heating system, and simultaneously start the stirring motor. During the experiment, please refer to the thermometer inside the water bath as the reference temperature.
4. Pull out the handle, rotate it slightly to put it in neutral, then move the gearbox and place the mold filled with the sample into the copper cylindrical pin at the extension end of the instrument. Push in the handle to engage the gears, thereby bringing the instrument into its working position.
5. Connect the power supply to the digital display device on the gearbox and turn on the start switch. The instrument will begin operating, and the display will show the elongation length. During the test, if you notice asphalt filaments floating on the water surface or sinking to the bottom of the tank, add alcohol or table salt to adjust the specific gravity of the water until it matches that of the sample, then continue the test.
6. When the asphalt specimen is pulled to fracture or reaches the test requirements, press the “Calculate” switch. The instrument will automatically record the elongation of that specimen. After three tests, pressing the “Calculate” switch again will automatically compute the average value of the three specimens.
7. After finishing work, turn off the power, remove the test mold, pull out the handle and set it to neutral, then push the gearbox back into place. Open the drain valve to completely empty the water from the groove, and wipe the area dry to prevent rusting.
Maintenance methods for the asphalt ductility tester:
1. After each test, drain all the water from the tank to prevent corrosion of the metal materials and ensure the accuracy and service life of the instrument.
2. After each test is completed, the asphalt mold must be gently wiped clean with fine gauze, coated with butter, and carefully stored in a flat, level location.
3. Please note: Before using the instrument, the instrument case must be properly grounded to prevent interference.
4. Before using the instrument, oil should be injected through the oil filling ports at both ends. If the machine produces any unusual noises, immediately turn it off, troubleshoot the issue, and only then resume operation.
5. When conducting the tensile test with the asphalt extensometer, start the instrument first and then close the pull handle to prevent it from getting stuck. For other operational procedures, please follow the relevant standards.
