Fatigue Characteristics of Cast-in-Place Asphalt Mixtures

2012-09-05

Pouring-type asphalt mixtures are in a flowing state and generally do not require compaction; construction can be completed simply by using basic paving and leveling equipment, achieving the specified density and smoothness. Pouring-type asphalt mixtures are characterized by high mixing temperatures, high mineral powder content, high asphalt content, and long mixing times. These mixtures exhibit strong adaptability to steel bridge decks, particularly in their resistance to fatigue damage, which differs from that of conventional asphalt mixtures. The fatigue failure criteria for pouring-type asphalt mixtures may not necessarily be suitable for mixtures with high stiffness moduli.
