What are the operating steps for the electric compaction tester?

2022-08-15

The operating steps for the electric compaction tester are as follows:

1. Installation:

After unpacking, loosen the bolts securing the base, wipe all components of the instrument clean, and place the instrument onto the base.

Place the anchor bolts with the workbench as the reference, and use a level to ensure that the workbench is perfectly horizontal and vertical within a tolerance of 0.3. Tighten the anchor bolts to secure the instrument.

  2. Inspection:

Before connecting the power, first check the power cable (three-phase) and verify all components of the instrument’s power switch and counter. Pay attention to the correct direction—reversing the polarity is strictly prohibited.

  2. Install the compaction hammer:

The operating procedure for the electric compaction apparatus involves two types of compacting hammers: light hammers and heavy hammers. For the light hammer, place the small hammer core into the bucket and tighten it securely. For the heavy hammer, insert the large hammer core into the hammer cylinder and tighten it firmly. At the same time, verify that the drop height is set correctly. This machine is a multi-purpose instrument capable of performing three different types of tests, each involving varying drop heights and hammer weights. The operating procedure for the electric compaction apparatus comes with three sets of drop arc rings.

3. Note: Use the 40-tooth gear exclusively for light experiments.

The 40-tooth and 24-tooth gears are used in the overload test. To determine which drop height to select, first remove the cover, then install or remove the curved-tooth ring on the large cam. After selecting the desired drop height, tighten the screw using a screwdriver—make sure it’s securely fastened and won’t come loose—and then reattach the cover and tighten the screws. Next, set the counter to the required number of cycles and start the timing for the specified number of repetitions. Each time the counter operates, gently press the start switch to reset the count from zero.

  4. Adjustment of the workbench center distance:

Depending on the inner diameter of the test mold, first loosen the locking screw of the M16 bolt located at the front of the worktable. Then, insert the drop hammer into the test mold cylinder, and adjust the M16 bolt so that the distance between its outer diameter and the inner diameter of the test mold cylinder is appropriate. Next, tighten the M16 bolt. Before starting the machine, manually lift the rack to ensure that the edge of the test barrel is not compressed, and then proceed with startup.

  5. The two sets of test molds have different specifications, so each set is equipped with parts such as bolts. Be sure not to install them incorrectly when using.

  6. Regularly inspect fasteners, and tighten them promptly if any are found to be loose. After each test, the components used should be cleaned, lubricated, and protected against corrosion and rust.

  7. The chain tension should be checked regularly, and if its sag exceeds 10 mm, it should be adjusted.

  8. Do not start the compactor when there is no concrete present. When not in use, place cotton yarn or paper scraps inside the test bucket.

  9. Regularly lubricate the chain and heavy-duty sliding components.

  10. After each compaction, the test mold, compaction equipment, and steel plate platform should be cleaned immediately.

  11. The instruction manual and the factory qualification certificate are randomly placed inside the packaging.

The control section of the electric compaction apparatus is powered by a computer chip, enabling automatic counting, automatic shutdown, and automatic cycling during operation. This instrument is reliable, easy to operate, features evenly distributed hammer marks, and produces high-quality test specimens. It is suitable for geotechnical testing in both laboratory and field settings.
