  2. Strain rate: 50 mm/min
  3. Temperature control accuracy: 1℃
  4. Temperature control range: Room temperature -50℃
  5. External dimensions: 2300 x 400 x 400 mm (2 m)
  6. Weight: 45 kg
  7. Power supply voltage: 380V
  8. Power: 1.2 kW
  9. Ambient temperature: 5–40℃
  10. Ambient humidity: ≤85%
  Introduction to the Asphalt Extensometer:
An experiment used to measure the maximum plastic deformation of a specimen at the moment of fracture, as well as elongation tests for materials such as modified asphalt.
Main features of the asphalt ductility tester:
  1. The entire machine is made of stainless steel and will never rust.
  2. High-precision temperature control instrument with accurate temperature regulation.
  3. It uses a copper rack, so there’s no risk of teeth jumping.
  Purpose and Scope of Application
This test is applicable for evaluating the elastic recovery performance of thermoplastic rubber-modified asphalt, specifically measuring the percentage of deformation recovery through the sieve openings after the specimen has been elongated to a specified length using a ductility tester. The supplier is Hebei Dahong Testing Instrument Co., Ltd. Unless otherwise specified, the test temperature is 25℃, and the tensile rate is 5 cm/min ± 0.25 cm/min.
Asphalt Extensibility Tester Instruments and Materials
  1. Mold for Testing: Use the mold employed in the ductility test, but replace the middle section with a straight-sided mold. The cross-sectional area of the fabricated specimen shall be 1 cm².
  2. Water Bath: The water bath must maintain a stable experimental temperature with fluctuations not exceeding 0.1℃. The water bath’s volume shall be no less than 10 L, and its height must ensure that the specimen is immersed to a depth of at least 10 cm, while remaining at least 5 cm above the bottom of the water bath.
  3. Ductility Testing Machine: Same as Procedure T 0605 in this specification.
  4. Thermometer: Meets the requirements of the elongation test.
  5. Scissors.
Method for Verification of Asphalt Extensometer
  1. Adjust the zero point, power on and move the device, then simultaneously start the stopwatch. When 1 minute has elapsed, read and record the displacement interval indicated on the scale. Repeat the measurement three times and calculate the arithmetic mean, ensuring that the speed is within the range of (50 ± 5.0) mm/min.
  2. Using a dial caliper, measure three 300-mm segments on the scale. Each measurement must not deviate by more than 1 mm to be considered qualified.
  3. Use a dial caliper to measure the inner dimensions of the test mold three times each, and take the average value. The measurement is considered qualified as long as it falls within the allowable tolerance range.
