How do you install and use an asphalt softening point tester? Let me walk you through it now:
1. Open the packaging box and check the instrument’s surface and related accessories according to the instrument’s complete set and technical documentation. If there is no damage or missing parts, simply follow the provided diagrams to install the instrument.
2. Check whether the power ground connection is excellent.
3. Turn on the power switch; the indicator light will illuminate, and you can then begin the experimental procedure.
4. Wash and dry the sample cup with a solvent, then mount it on the stand.
5. Install the thermometer by inserting it vertically into the sample cup, ensuring that the bulb of the thermometer is approximately 6.5 mm above the bottom of the cup and positioned 16 mm from the cup’s edge on the side opposite the burner.
6. After preparing the sample, pour it into the sample cup up to the marked line, ensuring that no other parts of the sample cup are contaminated with asphalt.
7. All installations should be placed in an indoor location with subdued lighting and no significant air circulation, and should be enclosed on three sides by wind shields.
8. Connect the burner to a pressurized container of flammable gas (such as liquefied propane or natural gas) using a flexible hose. Turn the burner to one side, perform a test ignition, and adjust the flame until it forms a standard spherical shape or a small spherical flame with a diameter of 4 mm ± 0.8 mm.
