On roads, vehicles—primarily automobiles—are the primary users of the pavement and also the main factors causing damage to the pavement structure and destabilizing the subgrade. With the development of traditional fatigue failure theories, it has become clear that pavement deterioration is significantly influenced by traffic load factors—including increasing traffic volumes, higher axle loads, rising vehicle speeds on highways, the vibrational characteristics of traffic loads, and the appropriateness of traffic parameter determination. The impact of these traffic load factors on the early-stage distress of asphalt concrete pavements cannot be overlooked.

Study on the Low-Temperature Performance of Cast-in-Place Asphalt Mixtures
What cast asphalt mixtures are well known for is their high-temperature performance. In fact, cast asphalt mixtures also exhibit excellent low-temperature performance. The following is a study on the low-temperature performance of cast asphalt mixtures. Regarding the rutting resistance of cast asphalt mixtures, hard-bitumen cast asphalt mixtures demonstrate superior rutting resistance. Through low-temperature bending tests and fatigue tests conducted on composite pavement structures with steel bridge decks under gradually decreasing temperatures, we tested and compared the low-temperature crack resistance of cast mixtures using hard bitumen. High-performance polymer-modified asphalt cast mixtures feature longer fatigue life and lower fracture temperatures, making them suitable for use in cast asphalt pavements on steel bridge decks.
