Working Principle and Maintenance of the Fully Automatic Asphalt Penetration Tester
2020-06-22
Working principle of the fully automatic asphalt penetration tester:
The control of the testing instrument is provided by internal electronic components. The control buttons on the instrument’s panel allow you to set and regulate the temperature of the constant-temperature bath, adjust the penetration time, and switch the heater on and off. The instrument is also equipped with auxiliary lighting. After manually confirming the penetration position, press the start button. The displacement sensor’s initial value will automatically reset to zero. Once power is applied, the instrument releases the penetration assembly, which then falls freely, inserting the standard needle into the specimen. Measurement data is transmitted to the digital display control panel. When the instrument reaches the preset penetration time, it automatically locks the penetration assembly, displays the maximum penetration depth, and completes the specimen testing process.
Maintenance and Servicing of the Fully Automatic Asphalt Penetration Tester:
1. Regularly inspect the operating condition of the centrifugal spindle and drive belt.
2. Regularly clean the solvent recovery chamber, the solvent chamber, and their internal related components.
3. Regularly clean the debris collector;
4. Before starting the initial operation, an appropriate amount of trichloroethylene should be injected through the vent port of the solvent pump.
5. During equipment operation, if any abnormal conditions occur, immediately press the stop button to halt the machine and perform a thorough inspection until the cause is identified and the fault is eliminated before resuming operation.
6. When not in use for an extended period, all liquids in the solvent recovery chamber and the solvent chamber should be drained and the chambers cleaned.
Main applications of the fully automatic asphalt penetration tester:
This instrument is primarily used to determine the penetration of viscous petroleum asphalt, viscous shale asphalt, and liquid petroleum asphalt—as well as the residue left after distillation or emulsification of asphalt materials. The penetration of asphalt refers to the depth to which a standard needle of specified weight and dimensions penetrates vertically into the sample under predetermined time and temperature conditions. This instrument is simple and convenient to use, exhibits minimal temperature drift, features automatic temperature control, an LCD display with Chinese text, a real-time clock, and other advanced functions. It is suitable for a wide range of environmental conditions and enables full automation, digitization, and computerization of the testing process. As a result, it provides a highly accurate, stable, and reliable computerized asphalt testing instrument for applications in China’s highway, municipal engineering, construction, petroleum, and other related fields.
