What are the uses of a rotary compactor?

2023-02-06

The rotary compactor is highly favored by our customers. To help more people learn about it, let’s now take a closer look at its applications. We hope this information will be helpful to even more people.

Today, many people still lack a basic understanding of the rotary compactor. As the manufacturer, we feel it’s important to briefly explain this instrument: actually, the rotary compactor is a device that checks or monitors the quality of mixtures by measuring rotational displacement. Nowadays, it features a compact, robust, and durable design, is easy to move around, and comes equipped with built-in mold-angle measurement capabilities, allowing precise control of rotational displacement. Its extra-large capacity enables it to accommodate larger quantities of mixtures, making compaction and demolding both simple and efficient. It’s worth noting that this instrument is considered one of the laboratory methods for compacting asphalt mixture samples, used to evaluate both the compaction performance of test specimens and their field performance. Compaction is achieved by applying a vertical load to the end plates, while the mold’s longitudinal axis rotates at a fixed angle relative to the vertical direction; meanwhile, the upper and lower end plates remain parallel throughout the process. During compaction, the instrument automatically measures the sample height and calculates the test density and porosity. Operators can choose to compact the sample until reaching a specific number of rotations, or until achieving a target density or porosity. When using this equipment, it’s crucial to understand that the main challenges facing rotary compactors lie in improving production quality and enhancing ease of use. The molds used in these compactors, once filled with mixture, are quite heavy and often very hot.

In most cases, these molds need to be placed both inside and outside the rotary compactor. There’s no need for manual handling of molds filled with mixtures—instead, they automatically descend into the compaction position and then rise to be transferred to an integrated demolding system, making operation extremely convenient. Currently, this product features automatic detection and adjustment of the compaction angle. When using it, please note that the rotary compactor is equipped with an automatically detecting device for the compaction angle, developed by our institute, along with corresponding testing software, which can automatically measure the instrument’s current compaction angle. The detection time is 1 hour per 5 minutes, and the angular accuracy of the detection is ±0.01°. Paired with the instrument’s built-in scale for setting the compaction angle, the rotary compactor allows for rapid adjustment of the compaction angle within the range of 0° to 2°. Resetting the compaction angle takes only 10 minutes, whereas resetting the compaction angle on imported instruments typically requires more than two hours and involves significant labor. Over the years, our company has been committed to expanding and developing both domestic and international markets, adopting a dual approach that combines online e-commerce platforms with offline physical sales channels.

After introducing the above content, we’ve gained a deeper understanding of the uses of the rotary compactor. The next time we see it, it won’t feel unfamiliar anymore, and we’ll also be less likely to encounter problems during its use. Well, that’s all for today’s session—stay tuned for even more exciting insights in the future!
