Features and Operating Procedures of the Asphalt Mixture Compaction Tester

2021-10-08

  Feature
It can perform automatic counting, automatic compaction, and automatic shutdown. It also features a hammer-hanging bracket and a manual handle for easy lifting of the hammer. The semi-automatic molding device makes it even more convenient to insert and remove molds.
  Operating method
  a. Before each compaction, apply machine oil to the compaction punch, the inner walls of the mold, and the base of the mold. b. Open the safety door, lift the guide rail slider and the hammer, and use the safety control rod to lock the compaction punch in place.
  c. The MDJ-II Asphalt Mixture Marshall Compactor, in accordance with the specifications, places the thoroughly mixed asphalt mixture into the test mold, then pushes the test mold onto the positioning pins on the steel plate platform and securely locks the mold.
  d. Lift the guide rod and the weight hammer, flip up the safety lever, lower the compaction plunger, open the safety door, and press the start button to begin the compaction process. The machine will automatically shut down once the preset number of cycles is reached.
  Precautions for Use
  1. The counter stops counting in the forward-counting mode.
  2. The next time you strike, first press the reset button and then the start button.
  3. When stopping the compaction process is required, or if the machine malfunctions, press the stop button to halt the compactor’s operation.
  4. The chain tension should be checked regularly, and adjusted if its sag exceeds 10 mm.
  5. Do not start the compaction machine when no mixture is loaded. When not in use, place cotton yarn or shredded paper inside the test mold.
  6. Regularly lubricate the chain and the sliding parts of the weight hammer.
  7. After each compaction is completed, the test mold, compaction rammer, and steel plate platform should be immediately cleaned and properly disposed of.
  8. The tension between the steel plate platform and the concrete base should be checked regularly.
  Operating Procedures
  1. First, connect the three plugs at the back of the cabinet properly. The “motor” should be connected to the motor input port on the cabinet, the “non-contact proximity switch” should be connected to the counting port, and the “power supply” should be connected to the power supply port. At the same time, make sure the neutral wire is properly connected.
  2. After completing the above steps, toggle the “Preset” dial to set the desired number of compaction cycles, ranging from 1 to 99. When you turn on the power switch, the digital display on the panel will show “00,” and the power indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Press the start button to activate the controller; the status light will illuminate, and the digital display will show “00.” The motor will start rotating, raising the hammer to compact the material. Each time the hammer strikes, the digital display will increment by one. Once the preset number of strikes is reached, the motor will stop, and the indicator light will turn off.
Press the Pause button to halt the operation; the status indicator will turn off. Press the Start button again to resume normal operation. If any abnormal situation occurs during operation, press the Pause button. At this time, the digital display will show the number of times the button has been pressed. After completing one experiment, first press the Reset button, then press the Start button.
