Overview and Feature Analysis of the Rotary Compactor

2021-06-08

The design of the rotary compactor incorporates numerous features aimed at ensuring operator safety and minimizing manual intervention when handling hot, heavy test molds filled with asphalt mixtures. The test molds can be slid directly from the workbench into the compaction chamber and then, after compaction, slid into the pneumatic specimen separator—all without requiring any lifting motions. The compaction chamber is completely enclosed, and its access door is fitted with safety glass, allowing operators to observe the compaction process through the glass. This door features automatic opening and closing mechanisms and is equipped with an interlock system to prevent it from being activated while closed. Additionally, an emergency stop button is provided for immediate shutdown in case of an emergency.
The four-column frame of the rotary compactor is highly stable and robust. A load sensor is used to measure the vertical stress, ensuring precise control throughout the compaction process. The rotational motion is also servo-controlled, enabling accurate regulation of the rotation angle during compaction—regardless of the applied load. Compared with other similar products, this rotary compactor stands out for its unique capability to measure shear stress during the compaction process.
Since this machine uses servo control operation, vertical stress, rotation angle, and speed can be quickly adjusted via a handheld console or a PC.
Features:
The operation is safe and convenient; the pneumatic extraction of asphalt specimens makes the experiment even easier. The four-column loading frame design ensures outstanding stability.
Servo control makes loading and angle adjustment more precise.
The rotation angle can be adjusted arbitrarily within the range of 0 to 3°.
Use the buttons to adjust vertical stress, rotation angle, and speed.
During compaction, shear stress can be tested.
Real-time image displays the specimen’s height, density, vertical shear stress or rotation angle, and number of rotation cycles.
