Instructions for Use and Maintenance of the Asphalt Mixture Compaction Tester
2021-04-25
Instructions for Use of the Asphalt Mixture Compactor:
1. After each experiment, be sure to clean the machine thoroughly, apply oil to both the test cylinder and the rack, and disconnect the power supply (reconnect it only when you’re ready to resume work).
2. Regularly inspect fasteners and tighten them promptly if any looseness is detected.
3. For localized rotation, lubricate once every three months. If the equipment is used frequently, adjust the lubrication interval accordingly and lubricate more often as needed.
Maintenance and Servicing of Asphalt Mixture Compaction Equipment:
1. After using the instrument, it should be thoroughly cleaned to keep both the instrument itself and its surrounding environment tidy.
2. Chains and gears should be cleaned and maintained once a week. For lifting mechanisms and guide rails, as well as rotating parts, add a small amount of No. 20 machine oil per shift to keep them lubricated.
3. When the instrument is not in use, cover it with a protective cover.
Construction composition of the asphalt mixture compaction apparatus:
1. Once the base plate, compaction cylinder, and collar ring are assembled into a single unit, compaction can be stopped.
2. The top end of the guide tube is fitted with eight Φ6 air holes, and the guide tube itself has eight Φ8 air holes, ensuring that the hammer experiences no gas resistance within the guide tube and thus achieves free fall. The stroke of the hammer inside the guide tube is 305 mm for models 2A and 2B, and 457 mm for models 3A and 3B.
3. The top of the hammer rod is equipped with a handle for easy operation and lifting.
4. The ring-shaped compaction cylinders are all made of silicon-aluminum alloy, while the guide cylinder is made of brass tubing. The striking hammer is corrosion-resistant and highly hard.
The asphalt mixture compaction apparatus was developed in accordance with the highway testing industry standards issued by the Ministry of Transport. Its design fully meets the requirements for preparing compaction specimens specified in the Compaction Bearing Ratio Test and Resilient Modulus Test outlined in the "Highway Geotechnical Testing Procedures," and it features both light-compaction and heavy-compaction modes.
