Experimental Procedure for the Asphalt Extensibility Tester
2021-03-15
The asphalt ductility tester’s refrigeration system uses imported components and features a circulating system for stable temperature control. The bath is equipped with internal illumination and a white baseplate, and comes with a transparent cover. The tensile system employs ball screws and linear guide rails, ensuring smooth and precise stretching. The stretching speed is continuously adjustable via an imported frequency converter, with automatic high-speed return-to-position function and a built-in braking system. The device features a 5.7-inch large LCD touch screen that supports multiple input methods, including keyboard entry, remote control input, and touch-screen input, enabling seamless human-machine interaction. With a dual-core design, the control system is even more efficient. The screen automatically displays the elongation value, and wireless remote control allows for locking and calculation of average values. A real-time clock and programmable Chinese voice timer provide timely notifications throughout the experiment. During the test, the system offers full-text voice prompts at every stage. It automatically records the start time and duration of the experiment. The device can store up to 30 sets of specimen data, which can be queried and printed at any time.
The system equipped with a printer can print experimental results and experimental graphs, and it features an RS232 communication port that allows connection to a computer network.
Suitable for determining the ductility of asphalt, and also suitable for conducting elastic recovery tests on modified asphalt.
Asphalt Extensibility Tester Experimental Procedure:
(1) This instrument should be placed in an environment with a room temperature ranging from 0 to 40℃, relative humidity no greater than 80%, free from vibrations and corrosive gases, and must have proper grounding protection.
(2) Fill the sink with water; the water level must meet the requirements of the experimental operating procedures.
(3) After connecting the power and confirming that the instrument is functioning properly, set the temperature required for the experimental procedure, then activate the cooling or heating system. At the same time, press the “Cycle” button to start the water pump; once the set temperature is reached, the system will automatically stop operating.
(4) Turn the transmission lever to “Neutral,” then move the transmission to position the mold filled with the test sample into the cylindrical pin at the extension end of the instrument. Rotate the lever to the “Fast” or “Slow” gear to engage the gears and bring the unit into working condition.
(5) Once everything is ready, press the “Experiment” button to start the instrument. The display will show the elongation length. During the experiment, if you notice that the asphalt filaments are floating on the water surface or have sunk to the bottom of the tank, you should add either alcohol or table salt to adjust the specific gravity of the water until it matches that of the sample, then resume the experiment.
(6) When the asphalt specimen is broken or reaches the experimental requirement, press the “Record” button. The instrument will automatically record the elongation of that specimen. When the second specimen is broken, press the “Record” button again, and the instrument will automatically record the elongation of that specimen as well. Similarly, after the third specimen is broken, press the “Record” button once more, and the instrument will record the elongation of that specimen. At the same time, the instrument will automatically calculate and display the average elongation value of the three specimens.
(7) After the experiment is completed, turn off the power, remove the test mold, set the gearbox lever to “neutral,” and push the gearbox back into place.
(8) Open the drain valve to completely empty the tank, wipe the instrument dry, and apply an appropriate amount of machine oil to all moving parts and gears to prevent rusting. If the instrument is not to be used for an extended period, be sure to cover it with a dustproof cover to protect it from dust.
